HAZINA TOWER CONSTRUCTION COST REDUCE BY Sh2.8 Billion
Hazina Tower construction cost reduce after department of work performed an audit in Kenya.
The cost of constructing the hazina tower is set to reduce following an audit by the department of works. The audit has reduce the fund for the project from Sh6.8 billion to Sh4 billion.
National Social Security Fund who is the owner of the project has also told the national assembly after the audit. Meanwhile the agency said they have revised the contractor claim. The agency said that the fee to be paid is now Sh 870 million and not Sh1.8 billion as claim by the contractor.
The building project which began in 2013 was stalled after the chinese company filed for a case to stop NSSF.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani said that “The contractor has not be informed for the revised cost. He also said that he foresee a long court battle over the new costs. He also said that they need to call all stakeholders in the matter for arbitration during a meeting with the commttiee
Initially, the tower was to have 36 floors built at Sh6.7 billion. NSSF later reduced the floors to 15. The project is expected to be complete by the end of June 2019.
